‘The Pause! Live podcast’ is a labour of love crafted by a passionate community of volunteers whose live podcast pitch earned them the coveted STORYHIVE Voices 3.0 grant. Their commitment went beyond the ordinary, choosing to forgo compensation in a bid to create more than just a live podcast; but Filmmaker’s Society that enriches underrepresented and emerging indie creators.
The Pause! Filmmaker's Society is committed to:
I. Ongoing development, implementation, and promotion of the arts.
II. Contributing, self-creating, and self-producing public displays, presentations, and works of art.
III. Creating opportunities for public participation and artistic expression.
IV. Serving as a dynamic organization, actively championing emerging and underrepresented creators in Calgary and seizing every opportunity to offer tangible and effective support. This includes the orchestration of an online document templates and a skills-share membership database, free gear and royalty-free music/SFX access, and the continued renewal of the annual Live Podcast and Filmmaker’s Gala, proudly produced by our very own members.

Here's How We're
Enriching Our
Community:
1. We're channeling grant funds into ensuring our projects triumph and securing grants for future broadcasts.
2. Volunteers contributing to TPS productions—whether during prep, production, or post—earn themselves a key to our Filmmaker’s Society.
3. Grant funding from the triumphant funding and renewal of our projects will be invested in top-notch camera gear, all of which will be used to film the series and find a permanent home in our "Society Film Kit." This treasure trove of equipment ensures that the tools of cinematic artistry are within reach for all our members at no cost. This includes access to an arsenal of royalty free music and sound effects paid for by TPFS.
4. Volunteers get a chance to build their resume by getting a broadcast credit regardless of experience level. Plus, we're a practicum haven for graduating SAIT and RDC students.
5. We’re allocating a portion of funds to put together the 'Creators Kit Gift Bags' curated exclusively for our esteemed special gallery of guests during out Filmmaker's Gala. Packed with essentials for any aspiring creative's arsenal, these bags boast treasures such as personalized professional headshots (snapped at the Gala), an all-access pass to 'The Pause! Filmmaker’s Society' (equivalent to automatic gear access), a sleek portable USB drive (because memory is the unsung hero), Hunter Adesina’s signature Hot Sauce (a crafty booster), and a trove of other unique, industry-specific gifts!
6. We’re encouraging face-to-face connections with local emerging and underrepresented creatives in an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie that grows each year and is fortified by our membership.
7. We're giving emerging artists the spotlight they deserve on our broadcast platform, increasing their global reach.
8. 'Forge-Forward' is not just a motto; it's a celebration of authenticity. 'The Pause!' is where your soul gets a revival, and your vulnerabilities find their notoriety.
9. We're changing the narrative, fortifying our diaspora, and showing the world the formidable power of a diverse, united community of indie filmmakers.
Membership
Membership is at no-cost and is reserved for individuals that come from underrepresent, emerging, or indie (less than 300 broadcasted hours) communities. Membership renewal can only be achieved through a skills-share contribution towards the TPFS projects, proudly produced by our very own members. Additionally, membership renewal can also be achieved through a skills-share contribution to another member's project.
